Requirements
  • ↓Physical Requirements ↓
  • Our retreat involves daily hikes to the mountain's top, which requires participants to be in good physical condition. Although Mt. Kurama is not a big mountain and does not involve rock climbing, the hikes do require walking up many stairs.
  • To fully enjoy and participate in all activities of our special class, you need to be capable of handling these climbs. Regular aerobic exercise and stair climbing prior to the retreat are highly recommended to ensure you can comfortably reach the mountain's peak and partake in all scheduled activities.
  • Walking endless stairs every day during our hikes requires a person to be in good physical condition. Your preparation is crucial for a fulfilling and enjoyable experience at our retreat.

How to Get Location?

Arrival and Transfer Guide to Kyoto

International Arrival at Kansai International Airport (KIX):

  • Train: Take the JR Haruka Express directly to Kyoto Station, a journey of about 75 minutes, costing between ¥2,850 and ¥3,500.
  • Bus: Opt for the Airport Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station, taking around 1.5 hours and costing between ¥1,500 and ¥2,000.

From Tokyo (Narita/Haneda):

  • Train: Use the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, followed by the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto Station, taking between 3 to 5 hours. The cost is about ¥14,000 to ¥15,000. Alternatively, use direct connections to the Shinkansen at Haneda.

From Nagoya (Centrair):

  • Train: Board the Meitetsu μ-Sky Limited Express to Nagoya Station, then switch to the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto Station, with the total journey lasting 2 to 3 hours and costing between ¥4,500 and ¥5,500.

From Osaka Itami (ITM):

  • Train: JR trains reach Kyoto Station in about 1 to 1.5 hours for ¥560 to ¥1,000.
  • Bus: Airport Limousine Bus also takes 1 to 1.5 hours, costing between ¥1,000 and ¥1,500.

Continuing to Kurama Station from Kyoto Station:

  • JR Nara Line: Travel from Kyoto Station to Tofukuji Station, costing ¥150 to ¥200.
  • Keihan Line: Then go from Tofukuji to Demachiyanagi Station for ¥270 to ¥300.
  • Eizan Electric Railway: Lastly, take the railway from Demachiyanagi Station to Kurama Station, costing ¥410 to ¥500.

Total Estimated Cost: Approximately ¥830 to ¥1,000, with the total journey taking about 1 to 1.5 hours.
