Our Schedules during your stay:

 

Day 1: Arrival and Orientation
  • Arrive and settle in for orientation (after 10 a.m.).
  • Orientation. After we start our class program we may go explore Mt. Kurama.
  • Dinner and lunch will be provided on Day 1. Please have breakfast before arriving in Kurama.

Dinners on Mt. Kurama:

Experience the rich culinary heritage of Japan, with multi-course dinners crafted in the finest tradition of Kaiseki cuisine.

Day 2 & Day 3: Reiki Class and Mountain Exploration
  • Reiki classes alongside guided hikes and explorations of Mt. Kurama.
  • Enjoy three meals a day provided during the class.
Breakfast:

Served as a buffet style.

Lunch: 

Simple food such as rice balls (in Japanese “Onigiri”), sandwiches, fried rice or noodles.

Dinners on Mt. Kurama:

Kaiseki cuisine, multi-course dinner.

Day 4: Graduation and Celebration
  • Final day of Reiki class and continued mountain exploration.
  • Delight in a special farewell dinner and certification ceremony.
Day 5: Final Breakfast and Free Time to Explore
  • Gather for breakfast and check-out by 10 a.m.
  • Final class session will run until 12:00 p.m.
  • Following the conclusion of our training, feel free to independently explore Mt. Kurama until the evening.

Class Fees Include:

  • Days of Reiki Instruction, practice time, and time to explore Mt. Kurama.
  • Reiki Training Manual
  • A certificate indicating that you took the class
  • 3 nights of accommodation in Kurama Village with shared rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms.
  • Your accommodations during the days of your training in Kurama Village.
    All rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms are shared.
  • 3 meals a day will be provided
    Breakfast will be served as a buffet style.
    Lunch can be a variety of rice balls or sandwiches.
    Dinner will be served in the style of traditional Japanese Kaiseki cuisine (contains 5-8 course meals).


Costs Not Covered:

  • Round trip airfare to and from Japan.
  • All transportation costs from the airport where you arrive to Kurama village.
  • Entrance fees to Mt. Kurama and cable car fees (if you choose not to walk up).
  • Any hotel fees before or after staying at Kurama Village or any place in Japan.
  • Any tourist activities, gifts, etc.
  • Additional meals at Kurama village.
  • Traveler’s insurance.
  • Appropriate clothing for hiking on the mountain.
  • Any personal belongings, etc…

Our class/retreat at Mt. Kurama offers a dining experience that is both exquisite and thoughtfully curated. The inn's chefs, among the top culinary talents in Kyoto, specialize in Kaiseki cuisine—a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner celebrating the season's finest ingredients.

We are committed to accommodating various dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring that your meals are delicious and suitable for your needs. For those with very specific or complex dietary needs, please consult with us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements for a safe and enjoyable dining experience.

How to get to Kurama

Step 1: Travel to Kyoto from Abroad

  1. From Kansai International Airport (KIX):
    • Train: JR Haruka Express to Kyoto Station (75 minutes)
      Cost: ¥2,850-¥3,500 (approx. $19-$24)
    • Bus: Airport Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station (1.5 hours)
      Cost: ¥1,500-¥2,000 (approx. $10-$14)

 

  1. From Tokyo (Narita/Haneda):
    • Train: Narita Express or Tokyo Monorail to Tokyo Station, then JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto Station (3-5 hours)
      Cost: ¥14,000-¥15,000 (approx. $95-$105)
    • Alternative: Direct Shinkansen from Haneda (requires transfer to JR lines)
      Cost: Similar to the above

 

  1. From Nagoya (Centrair):
    • Train: Meitetsu μ-Sky Limited Express to Nagoya Station, then JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto Station (2-3 hours)
      Cost: ¥4,500-¥5,500 (approx. $30-$38)

 

  1. From Osaka Itami (ITM):
    • Train: JR train to Kyoto Station (1-1.5 hours)

Step 2: Traveling from Kyoto Station to Kurama Station

  1. JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to Tofukuji Station:
    • Cost: ¥150-¥200 (approx. $1-$1.40)
  1. Keihan Line from Tofukuji Station to Demachiyanagi Station:
    • Cost: ¥270-¥300 (approx. $1.90-$2.10)
  1. Eizan Electric Railway from Demachiyanagi Station to Kurama Station:
    • Cost: ¥410-¥500 (approx. $2.85-$3.50)

Total Estimated Cost:

  • Total Cost: ¥830-¥1,000 (approx. $5.75-$7.00)

Terms And Conditions

  • Payments are non-refundable and can't be moved to another class.
  • A non-refundable deposit of 1100 USD is required to secure your spot in the class. The remaining balance must be paid in full by September 15.
  • The balance is due 2 weeks before the start date of the class.

Health and Safety

  • Participants are required to be in good physical health and capable of daily hikes, including climbing many stairs, as part of the class activities on Mt. Kurama.
  • Please inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions in advance so that we can make necessary accommodations.
  • You are responsible for your own health and safety during the class and any activities related to the class. We recommend obtaining travel insurance that covers medical emergencies.
