About Reiki

If you are here the first question you must have is “What is Reiki?”
Your next question might be, “What can Reiki do for me?”

Reiki Is a Japanese holistic healing system that helps the body relax and promote natural healing on all levels: spiritual, mental and physical.

It’s made up of two Japanese characters:
“Rei” (霊 or 靈)Translates as Universal Life, Higher Intelligence that is with things, living & non-living
“Ki” (気 or 氣) Is the Energy that flows through everything. In Chinese, this energy is called “Chi” or “Qi.” Yoga practitioners call this energy “Prana.”

So In English, “Reiki” is usually defined as “Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy.” This energy is around us and with us all times. But a Reiki practitioner is an individual who is “attuned” to this specific vibration of universal energy.

What can Reiki do for me?

Everything in this universe has is a vibration and has a frequency. Some vibrations are natural: Our bodies, our organs, plants, food grown in the earth. The Sun….
Some vibrations are man-made: a car, a computer, a pen…

As we interact with other vibrations in our lives, stress begins to wear us down.

Reiki does the work of repairing the wear and tear that comes from every day stress.

Reiki does not interfere with any medical treatment. In fact, Reiki works to complement, support and assist any medicine a person is taking.

Holy Fire® III Reiki is a combination of traditional Usui Reiki and an evolution of Reiki. Reiki classes include the four Reiki symbols from Traditional Usui Reiki plus the master symbol from Holy Fire® III Reiki.

“14 Hot Questions About Holy Fire Reiki” By Colleen Benelli

Lena's Story

I was born in Ukraine and moved to Japan when I was 18.

After the Soviet Union collapsed, my family and many others were not having the best of times. I remember when there wasn’t any food, traveling or going to restaurants. Such things felt like something that only happened on other planets.

One of the reasons I loved summer time in Ukraine was because we could grow and harvest our own organic fruits and vegetables. Apart of growing our own food, we would get water from a well. My family is still getting their water from that well today.

Being raised in such a natural environment and seeing my mother using her herbs for medicine and food, planted the seed of my interest in using herbs and natural living.

Because of the prohibitive high cost of attending university in Ukraine, I went to a technical school. I learned how to design and make shoes. So I always had my own custom-designed, hand made clothes and shoes.

I was so surprised that from all the places that are in the world, life brought me to Japan in 2003. Coming from a post-Soviet Union country to Japan was shocking on all levels! I am very grateful for all the life experiences in Ukraine and Japan. I believe that it was preparation for me that led me to Reiki in 2015.

What has been my Reiki journey?

After a serious car accident, other physical and emotional injuries and a few surgeries, I started to loose hope for getting better. But Reiki helped and guided me on my healing journey on many levels.

My life has never been the same since that first Reiki session.

I was amazed how fast and deep I could connect with myself after receiving the session. Reiki cleared blockages that kept me from hearing my inner guidance for my life journey. It’s increased my ability to listen.

What really touched my soul is that Reiki gives us ability to heal ourselves. Self-Reiki treatments and Distance Reiki was something that I never heard till 2015. Those words weren’t a part of my daily vocabulary as it is now. Distance Reiki was the tool I wanted to use for my mother who lives in Ukraine. I was always stressing out if something would happen back home. Now, my way of dealing with it is: “I will send you Reiki, Mom!”. It helps me to be in the state of peace and calmness even when stressful situations occur.

I strive to treat people the way I would like to be treated and Reiki supports me with this intention.

Looking forward to sharing the gift of Reiki with you.

Muniqui's Story

If you knew me as a child, you probably could have predicted that I would get into Reiki or another healing art. Growing up the grandson of an assistant Minister in Islam and the son of a trainer of men, I’ve always interested in helping people be the best they could be. As a child, I always found myself “working with people“ (at least that’s what I called it) and I found adult conversations on topics such as “self improvement,” and “Building The Will” more interesting than playing with children my own age. I remember thinking “Children are too childish. They waste time playing when there’s more important things to do.” The irony of that thought would come back on me later in life.

My interest in adult conversations and my ability to understand the topics impressed my adult family members and friends so much that they started calling me “The Little Professor.” But being able to have serious discussions with adults did not translate into the emotional maturity necessary to handle those discussions. I developed shingles at the age of nine in my right eye and it was progressing to the left when they put me in the hospital. I understand now that I was frequently stressed out so my body tried to protect me. How? By attacking the nerves in my eyes to prevent me from seeing unpleasantries. Quick action from the doctors saved my sight but left my right eye very weak.
Because I see mostly through my left eye, in addition to being left-handed, that increased my spiritual, right brain activity-something that would continue into adulthood.

I went to the University of Arizona in 1989. University life wasn’t easy. Receiving a diagnosis of ADHD, having my back nearly broken and having a kidney contusion in 1992 had me going to many medical doctors but they couldn’t find anything to “fix.” This started sending me looking for relief beyond conventional medicine. I received acupuncture, rolfing®️ and chiropractic adjustments since they were the only treatments that gave any pain relief.

After graduating with a degree in Spanish, I moved to Japan in 1998. Two years later, Reiki introduced itself to me. I found “The Original Reiki Handbook Dr. Mikao Usui” by Frank Arjava Petter in a book store in 2000. After reading it, I remember thinking “This may be useful one day” and I put it on the shelf. I did not touch that book for the next 16 years. In between time, I became a Hawaiian Hula dancer at Hula Halau Hui Lehua and eventually moving up to being an instructor under Kumu Yoko Shidara. I also became a certified Spiritual/Intuitive Life Coach and a Coaches Associate with Specialities in Cultural Connections and Health and Wellness through The Life Strategies Now Academy.

Even after all that, my mind was rarely quiet. I always felt I was having discussions with other people. At the suggestion of Lena, who had received her level one attunement, I got a Reiki session. I remember waking up feeling calm, centered, the mind chatter was gone….and I had to know “WHAT JUST HAPPENED???” The Reiki Master told me I had so many energies from other people on me that I could hardly rest even in my sleep. But the Reiki master had cleared me of those other energies.

From that day, I have been studying various forms energy medicine with an emphasis on Reiki. I am still amazed at the simplicity, effectiveness and applicability of Reiki to any situation. Reiki has helped me to gently strengthen areas of my character that have been underdeveloped while returning overdeveloped areas back into balance. Since being attuned to Reiki, I can feel my spiritually and insight has grown in many areas.

Self-Reiki has been a wonderful addition to my efforts to live a healthy lifestyle, along with prayer, studying, exercise and healthy eating. Reiki helps remove excessive energy which keeps me grounded thus reducing my symptoms of ADHD.
Since Reiki is an energy, becoming a practitioner increased my alertness and when I’m feeling tired during the day, I can give myself an energetic Reiki boost.

There are so many ways to use the Reiki energy to enhance your life, I cannot list them all. But I do look forward to sharing some of those ways with you.
